Belladonna*<\/a>, Kweli Journal<\/a><\/em>, and Poetskiss <\/a>present an evening with award-winning poets\u00a0Samuel Ace,\u00a0Jonathan Andersen\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Vincent Toro,\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0whose works engage with the\u00a02019\u00a0National Poetry Coalition\u00a0<\/strong>theme, “What Is It, Then, Between Us?: Poetry & Democracy,\u201d on\u00a0Saturday, March 9, 7:30 pm<\/strong>. Hosted by\u00a0Berl\u2019s Brooklyn Poetry Shop<\/strong>, New York City’s only all-poetry bookshop,\u00a0the reading and book signing is open and free to the public.<\/p>\n

A trans and genderqueer poet and sound artist,\u00a0Samuel Ace<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>is the recipient of the Astraea Lesbian Writers Fund Award in Poetry and the Firecracker Alternative Book Award. His books of poetry include\u00a0Stealth<\/em>, a collaborative work written with Maureen Seaton, and two forthcoming collections,\u00a0Our Weather O\u00adur Sea\u00a0<\/em>(Black Radish Books) and\u00a0Meet Me There<\/em>:\u00a0Normal Sex & Home in three days. Jonathan Andersen<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>is the author of\u00a0Augur<\/em>\u00a0(Red Dragonfly Press), awarded the 2017 David Martinson-Meadowhawk Poetry Prize;\u00a0The Burden Note<\/em>, (Meridian Prize, 2014), an English\/Serbo-Croatian chapbook of poems; and\u00a0Stomp and Sing<\/em>\u00a0(Curbstone Press\/Northwestern University Press), a collection of poems. He has been a featured reader throughout the eastern US, the UK, and Serbia.<\/p>\n

Vincent Toro<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is the author of\u00a0Stereo.Island.Mosaic.<\/em>\u00a0(Ahsahta Press), winner of the Poetry Society of America’s Norma Farber First Book Award and\u00a0the 2015 Sawtooth Poetry Prize. He is the recipient of a Poets House Emerging Poets Fellowship, a NY Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, the Caribbean Writer\u2019s Cecile De Jongh Poetry Prize, and The Spanish Repertory Theater’s Nuestras Voces Playwriting Award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
